Two speculative performances,
played simultaneously in the
Birch Grove and the Assembly Hall,
are a cognition of the
archaic and an attempt to transcode it.
Two stories, related to each other
and unrelated at all:
a site-specific performance - a mystery,
directed and
guided by three mermaids,
where the audience participates
in a ritual,
completing a series of tasks in attempt to
perceive the past in the other way,
and the the experiment
of the “stump scientist”,
who learned
the algorithm of
data mining (“Birch”)
and organized a secret laboratory to
derive a new code through
the preparation of balalaika,
gusli, birches and mermaids
to decode and transcode
Russian imperial past and national idea.
