Nadia Bakhshi

is an opera director, theatre maker,
and media artist based in Amsterdam.
She holds an MFA in Art and Design with a focus on Re:master Opera from Sandberg Institute and a degree in media art from the British Higher School of Art and Design.
Additionally, she is a graduate of the Russian Institute of  Theatre Arts (GITIS), where she specialized in opera direction.
Nadia’s practice spans opera, theatre, media art, and game design, often blending these disciplines to create innovative, interdisciplinary works.
Nadia’s artistic approach is marked by a playful yet critical engagement with the paradoxes of the world.
She works with multilayered realities that emerge from the stagnation of late capitalism, constant war conflicts, and the persistence of patriarchy.

Her work is infused with sarcasm and absurdity, using humor and irony to dissect and confront these societal forces.
Nadia experiments with diverse forms, using opera and music theatre as a practice of reenchanting reality.
